Detroit Rose Society

The Detroit Rose Society is incorporated as a non-profit, educational organization under the laws of the State of Michigan.  It is a fully affiliated chapter of the American Rose Society.  Founded in 1930, the society has been active in the Greater Detroit area for 80 years.

The purpose of the Detroit Rose Society is to foster the growth of roses in the home garden and encourage the knowledge and enjoyment of rose culture among all gardeners.  As members we nurture, scrutinize and improve general rose culture and as well as promoting the appreciation of the beauty and loveliness of the rose.

The Detroit Rose Society holds monthly meetings in which rose culture is the foremost subject of interest with occasional forays into other rose related topics.  Membership in the Detroit Rose Society brings many benefits, among which are the following:

    * Rose Lore - the official publication of the Society, full of valuable information on planting, pruning, spraying, and fertilizing as well as Society news and updates.

    * Rose Shows - held in June and September.  We are one of only 2 societies in the state to offer a Fall show.

    * Informative programs and garden tours - featuring practical rose growing information on planting, pruning, spraying and fertilizing and other rose gardening topics.

    * Consulting Rosarians - members specially designated by the American Rose Society, who are pledged to help everyone grow better roses.

    * Social events - including an annual Holiday Party and a summer pot luck.
